As it is allowed to showcase a controversial fictional movie threatening the faith of Christianity, while closing its door to yet another about communism; would it still be the same if Da Vinci was painting a different picture to Islamic faith instead?
Are we Malaysians so naive and innocent? Maybe… as we don’t even have sex education in school, hence it is only understandable that we should be protected from sexual and vulgarity exposure.
What does “U” stands for? Umum (Public)? or Unsuitable (as was stated differently on certain occassion)?
With French film festival decorating GSC with award-winning and best-selected movies for us to be waried of, sadly it has to be done so sensitively.
Surprised to find in “Men’s Heart”, the censorship of f*** is merely by having someone blocking the subtitle before the audiences have a chance to see it. It was truly annoying and ineffective, as more often than not the subtitle was able to be read clearly before the scrutinizing hand come on the big screen. While anyone who understand French would be granted the benefit of better understandng of the movie.
And while awaiting ”Merry Christmas”… “surely there won’t be any f*** in this one” a friend said. “why not, it can well be Merry f***ing Christmas” thus we were more anxious to see the hand again than the movie.
There was a moment of black out, but with sound… of people having sex. Does it want the audiences to visualize the scene as to add on to the excitement and artistic of it, or to fool the audiences that hearing it isn’t as bad as seeing it.
Now we know well enough why it took us that long to draft and implement sex education, and still go around the bush with “the bee and the flower” theory.
People are always on the trend of changing and adapting, yet others seem to think otherwise…
And might also be a f***ing good reason for piracy and bit-torrent download to exist, especially in our country.
